genesis of DF-ABSTRACT, emergence of a contemporary geometric language

DF-ABSTRACT is a contemporary geometric art project born from a progressive research on structure, rhythm, and visual transformation.
this genesis retraces the construction of a personal geometric language, grounded in the idea that structure precedes meaning.

before becoming an artistic project, DF-ABSTRACT developed as a personal research process aimed at understanding how an emotion, an event or a perception can be translated into an
organized visual system.

This approach is grounded in a central principle: structure precedes meaning

foundational Works

1. marée – study of natural rhythm and repetitive structure (2022)

structural approach and emergence of the language

this work translates the observation of the cyclical movement of the tide at Mine d’Or Beach in Pénestin.

the repetition of volumes evokes the relationship between time, space and trajectory.

this work marks the emergence of a research in contemporary geometric abstract art grounded in the observation of natural rhythm.
through volumetric repetition and spatial structuring, DF-ABSTRACT initiates here the construction of a visual language in which form becomes system.

the study of the tide does not belong to figurative representation, but to an abstract transcription of cycles, inscribed within a quasi-algorithmic logic..
this first formalization introduces the notions of structural unity, rhythmic variation, and organized transformation that will become central to the evolution of the project.

2. heatwave , summer 2022

chromatic tension and spatial saturation

created during the extreme heat episode of Summer 2022, this work explores the progressive saturation of visual space.

it translates the sensation of thermal pressure and the alteration of temporal perception under climatic constraint.

with heatwave, DF-ABSTRACT deepens its research by exploring the progressive saturation of visual space.
the work expresses a formal and chromatic densification that goes beyond climatic evocation to become a study of structural tension.

this phase consolidates the project’s positioning within the field of contemporary french abstract art, by affirming a method of visual interpretation based on the controlled transformation of masses, contrasts, and equilibria.

the experimentation conducted here contributes to the development of a distinct geometric vocabulary, intended to evolve into a coherent system of editions and variations.

3. cube: time, space and trajectory

fundamental unity and structuring of the language

at this stage, the cube becomes a foundational marker in the construction of the DF-ABSTRACT language. it embodies the intersection between temporality, individual trajectory, and the spatialization of experience.

this work constitutes a major conceptual step in the development of a structured algorithmic art, where each element operates as a component within a global system.

the controlled repetition of volumes anticipates the establishment of a vectorial alphabet, intended to organize future works according to rules of transformation, tension, and formal variation.

Transition to DF-ABSTRACT

These initial experiments led to the progressive formalization of the DF-ABSTRACT language, structured around:

• a vector alphabet
• structural families
• transformation rules
• a method for interpreting visual, musical, historical or natural sources

toward an autonomous visual language

through these foundational experiments, DF-ABSTRACT progressively moves away from isolated studies to become an evolving visual language..
each work is no longer a singular creation, but a variation within a structured system, inscribed in the continuity of a research in geometry applied to emotion and memory.

this process now leads to the production of original works and limited fine art editions, printed on art paper or aluminum dibond, positioning the project within the landscape of contemporary french art.

DF-ABSTRACT today: a structured geometric language

DF-ABSTRACT now asserts itself as an autonomous contemporary geometric language, grounded in the primacy of structure.

each work proceeds from a rigorous system: vectorial alphabet, formal families, transformation rules, and controlled variations..
creation does not derive from spontaneous inspiration, but from an organized process in which structure precedes meaning.

inscribed within the field of contemporary french abstract art, the project develops an algorithmic approach to visual composition, where rhythm, tension, fragmentation, and equilibrium become the operators of a global system.

the works are presented as originals and limited fine art editions, printed on art paper or aluminum dibond, ensuring durability, chromatic precision, and material coherence with the formal demands of the language.

DF-ABSTRACT is not defined as a sequence of images, but as an evolving construction: a structured ensemble in which each variation interacts with the entire corpus.

this genesis forms the foundation of an artistic project conceived to endure, evolve, and integrate into private collections or demanding contemporary spaces.

by developing a structured method for interpreting visual, musical, or historical sources, DF-ABSTRACT proposes a geometric reading of reality, transformed into a coherent plastic system.

this singular positioning places the project at the intersection of formal research, architectonic thinking, and contemporary abstraction.
